National Notice for Children’s Museum in North Kansas City
The Rabbit hOle in North Kansas City is just a few months old but it’s already gaining national attention.
The Rabbit hOle is an interactive children’s museum in a 165,000-square-foot building at 919 E. 14th Ave. in North Kansas City. Based on several beloved children’s books, the museum’s mission is straightforward: “To create a living culture around literature, accessible to all, that will nourish, empower, and inspire the reading lives of children and adults.”
The mission is working. People Magazine recently named Rabbit hOle to its list of “25 Things to Eat, See and Do This Summer.” Other praise has come from sources ranging from Bloomberg to NPR, as well as multiple local and regional publications.
“Interactive” is a museum buzzword, but Rabbit hOle takes that to a new level. Nearly all exhibits include some aspect of interactivity. The museum’s children’s focus is visible with tunnels and spaces to crawl through, plus books celebrating a century of American children’s literature for visitors of all ages. The three-story Rabbit hOle is the first museum of its kind in the United States.
